Over the course of his career, Captain Michael Zornes, known as Captain Z, has captained over 100 boats ranging from 35 to 110 feet. He has successfully delivered boats to owners and chartering companies across the East and West Coasts, Cuba, the Mediterranean, Bahamas, and the Caribbean. After years as a professional captain in both the sailing and powerboat communities, Captain Z transitioned naturally to become a Yacht Broker. Bringing 40 years of experience to the role, he has helped countless buyers and sellers achieve their yachting goals. As the West Coast Sales Manager for JFA Yacht and a Licensed & Bonded Broker, his mission is to provide a FULL SERVICE YACHT BROKERAGE EXPERIENCE, one boat at a time. His lifelong boating pursuits instill confidence in both novice and experienced yachtsmen, ensuring they are comfortable with their vessels.
Captain Michael Zornes was born on a beef farm in Independence, Kentucky. His upbringing on the farm honed his confidence and work ethic, attributes that have become his trademarks. At seventeen, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany. Following an honorable discharge, he pursued a career as a professional DJ before moving to Florida to fulfill his dream of becoming a full-time sailor.
Throughout his career, Captain Z has captained numerous private vessels, directed various sailing centers around Tampa Bay, and operated numerous charter fleets. He has also instructed fellow sailors through the ASA sailing school curriculum, becoming the “go-to” person for both charter companies and private boat owners on operational and technical matters, including chart plotters, electronics, and engines.
Captain Z’s expertise and reputation have earned him the title of “Top Gun Salesman” for three consecutive years.
